Award winning multi discipline artist and past Art in Embassies artist for the U.S. Dept.of State
Welcome!
My current focus is primarily landscape inspired abstraction. The work is mixed media on paper, canvas or birch panel. I have been fortunate to work with decorators and galleries on many projects for both residential and commercial clients from New York to Florida and points in-between.
I also enjoy plein air landscape painting in pastels and oil.

Tug Hill Invitational Plein Air Paint Out
Seventeen painters gathered at Trenton Falls Gorge near Holland Patent, NY for the first annual "Tug Hill Invitational Plein Air Paint Out". A warm sunny fall day made for good attendance and a lot of fun. Hundreds of people turned out to walk the trails and watch the artists at work.
The sales tent at the base of the trails stayed busy all day and several artists did quite well, especially those who had painted the Gorge preivously. I think nearly every painting of Trenton Falls Gorge sold. One woman from Texas bought three.
The days activities were followed by a dinner for the artists and a live auction of the works created during the day. Nineteen out of 21 paintings sold at auction with the proceeds going to the Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust.
My pastel pictured here sold at auction for $300.00. It was a beautiful day, a lot of fun and raised money for a very worth while cause.

"Yellow & Black" SOLD $900
This is an older painting that I recently sold. The piece measures 30" X 42" and is acrylic on paper. I did this painting in 1994. I had it in several shows and at Roberta Wood Gallery for a while. It always takes the right person to come along especially with the abstract work. I put it into semi retirement (storage) about ten years ago.
I put it up in the studio recently and that "right" person discovered it. It now has a home. I'm glad! I always really felt good about this painting!

Yellow House in the Harbour
This original pastel study of a yellow house sitting by the harbour somewhere along Marine Drive north of Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia measures 5" X 8.5". I intend to work this up into a full size finished painting. There is just something I really like about this scene.
This small study is avaiable for purchase at $75.00 + $6.00 shipping unframed in a single off white presentation mat. SOLD! This piece will now live in Washington State.

View from Carter's Beach
The first of a number of Plein Air studies painted on location in Nova Scotia. This piece measures 5.5" X 11". Available unframed in a single off white mat. $80.00 + $6.00 shipping.
*note - These are studies/sketches done in approximately an hour give or take. A finished painting takes a lot more time and is more refined. Finshed pieces framed will sell in the $400-$600 price range. Many people, however prefer the looser, painterly quality of the studies and the good value they represent.

Update
I just took a look at my Current News posting and realized I hadn't updated since April. Time just gets away from me sometimes.
Since the last post I am happy to say the Kevin and I both did well at the Art Literally event in Watertown. We both made multiple sales and helped out a couple of great causes in doing so.
My painting Field Study II - The Family Farm, received a "Judges Choice" award at the Adirondack Theme Show at the Arts Center in Old Forge. This was especially meaningful as Larry Barone (The Gallery/Fine Art, Sackett's Harbor) was this years judge. Larry is a fellow pastelist and I hold him and his work in very high regard.
Despite the constant negative reporting about the economy, sales remain quite good. In addition to the paintings sold at the Watertown show, I have also recently sold a couple of paintings in Vermont and three out of our gallery. One sold to a gentleman from Oswego who has become a collector. He vists the gallery once every year or so and buys a painting. I think he has purchased close to a half dozen of my paintings over the years and at least two or three others by Jeanne Dupre.
Kevin's blog has been receiving national attention and he was recently interviewed by Artspan. Follow the link posted near the top right side bar on his blog to read the interview.
I currently have a painting in the 56th annual Central Adirondack Art Show at the Arts Center in Old Forge and on-going shows at galleries in Canadaigua, NY, Seneca, SC and Jamaica, VT.

Current News
As I write this, I am in Old Forge taking a workshop with Pastel Society of America Hall of Famer, Master Pastelist, Mr. Doug Dawson. Doug is a fabulous artist and even better teacher! The Arts Center hosts some great workshops.
I have recently joined as a Charter Member, the newly formed , Adirondack Pastel Society. They do not have a web site yet. Once they do, I'll post a link here. In the mean time if you are an interested artist, gallery owner, patron etc. that would like to learn more about the ADK Pastel Society, contact me and I can put you in touch with the president or another officer.
This is a very busy spring with several shows all at once. Kevin and I are both participating in Art Literally, April 28 - May 9, in Watertown. This is a two week show benefiting the Flower Memorial Library and the Northern NY Red Cross.
We are both showing in the 38th annual, St. Davids Celebration of the Arts, April 29 - May 4.
Also I will be showing at the Corinthian Club in Syracuse with the National League of American Pen Women to benefit the Barnes' Foundation.
It's a lot going on all at once and believe it or not there were several other excellent opportunities during this same period that I just had to turn down. This is on top of my regular everyday work at the gallery. It's been a very busy spring! You can only do so much.

Northeast National Pastel Exhibition 2008
Today I received word that I was selected to participate in the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition at the Arts Center in Old Forge, NY. I was fortunate to have been a participant in 2005 but was inadvertantly left off the mailing list the following year. In 2007 I just dropped the ball and missed the entry deadline.
This is a fabulous show with great pastel art from all over North America. I am honored to once again be a part of it. The show will hang May 10-June 8. This will be one of the first shows in the new building.
The picture to the right "Field Study for Near Ellisburg" is just that. A smaller study for the piece that will be in the show in Old Forge. This smaller "study" is currrently showing at the Finger Lakes Gallery in Canandaigua, NY.
"Near Ellisburg" is larger and will be for sale during the show. $600

Finger Lakes Gallery and Frame
I am pleased to announce that I am once again showing work at a western New York Gallery. I enjoyed a relationship with Roselawn Gallery in Pittsford until their closing. Finger Lakes Gallery and Framing, Main St., Canandaigua currently has a number of pastel landscapes, abstract paintings and miniatures.
I am very excited about this opportunity. I have always enjoyed success in that market and I expect this to be the beginning of a long relationship with this wonderful gallery. Please pay Aimee and Bob a visit when you are over that way!
